KeepMeHome is proud to participate in the Adult Family Living (AFL) program—a supportive service that enables a family member, close friend, or another qualified individual to provide 24-hour, live-in care for up to three loved ones. In return, caregivers receive a nontaxable weekly payment, with the amount varying based on the level of care provided. This program helps recognize and support the essential work caregivers are already doing every day, allowing them to be fairly compensated while keeping their loved ones safe and comfortable at home.
Adult Family Living
Through the Adult Family Living (AFL) program, KeepMeHome empowers family members and close friends to provide full-time, live-in care — and get compensated for it. It’s a compassionate solution that keeps loved ones safe at home while recognizing the essential work caregivers do every day.

What is the Adult Family Living program?
Do I qualify to be a caregiver?
To become a caregiver through the Adult Family Living program, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be committed to living with the client and providing 24-hour care and supervision
- Be capable of monitoring the client’s well-being, documenting important information, and reporting any concerns or changes to the nurse or office staff — including proper notes on the weekly timesheet
Do I qualify for the program?
To be eligible for the AFL program, clients must meet a few key requirements:
- Be 65 years of age or older
- Qualify financially for Medicaid benefits
- Be enrolled in the Connecticut Homecare Program for Elders (CHCPE)
- Have a demonstrated need for care, which can range from simple reminders and cueing with daily tasks to more involved, hands-on assistance
How do I sign up for AFL services?
KeepMeHome can guide you through the entire process of starting Adult Family Living (AFL) services. First, services must be approved by a local access agency—such as Connecticut Community Care or the Area Agencies on Aging—who will then refer your case to a provider like KeepMeHome. We’ll help connect you to the right agency and assist with your referral.
To qualify, individuals must meet certain eligibility criteria (see the “Do I qualify for the program?” section). Our on-staff nurse will then complete an evaluation and recommend the appropriate level of care.
